For those of you with school-aged children, you know all too well that it is that time of year where the whole family needs to maintain a healthy immune system. The close contact of kids during the school day means lots of hands touching and not always getting washed. So what do you do to make sure your family stays healthy? Natural, simple solutions are my keys to success, here is a solution that has helped my family, and staff, protect against seasonal & environmental threats!
Anxiety is building as you glare at a date circled on your calendar. You have a wedding to attend and are itching to shed some extra pounds before fitting into that new dress and seeing old friends. At this point, a crash diet seems like a harmless way to lose the weight. Right? Wrong.
At my hair restoration center, my team and I specialize in helping women restore their hair that has begun to thin or has been lost. I find that my guests don’t necessarily want to stand out with the highest fashion looks, but instead want to look “normal” again. My team and I strive to help our guests not only get back to feeling normal… but more importantly feeling beautiful.
Recently one of my hair restoration specialists, Megan, came to me with a story about a guest she had seen who was struggling with Trichotillomania. Megan explained that our guest had been invited to a formal event and wanted an updo to compliment the gown she planned to wear. She did not feel comfortable going to a regular salon, so her doctor referred her to our center. The guest not only walked out looking beautiful, but more importantly she truly felt special… instead of just normal.
Would you describe yourself as beautiful? According to Dove, 96 percent of women wouldn’t. In order to get a closer look at this shocking statistic, the brand headed to five global cities — San Francisco, Shanghai, Delhi, London, and São Paulo — to capture women considering their own beauty.
As many of you know, I end each of my posts with “beauty begins within,” because I truly believe that it does. I see so many beautiful women whose beauty is outstanding, but hidden by fear of rejection or ridicule. It hurts my heart that these women can’t see what we see, and that’s why I’ve dedicated my life to helping them see their true beauty. When life gets you down, remember the following:
Spring break has come and gone and summer now looms on the horizon…and with it that dreaded moment when you’ll find yourself shopping for a bathing suit. Don’t fret, if you act now there’s still time to tighten up before hitting the beach.
My friend, and our outstanding health and wellness expert, Marisa Dicenso-Pelser, shares her five tips to help you get ready for the summer season!
Do these 5 things NOW to quickly get yourself into bikini shape…
As individuals, we can be our own worst enemy. It can be easy to hold yourself back and say, “I can’t.” Think again! There are ways for you to get rid of these negative thoughts that are holding you back from being all that you can be, and I want to share them with you!
Realize that nothing can hold you back. This is the most important step. If you don’t believe it, then you won’t be open to the idea of being able to accomplish whatever your heart desires. If you believe in yourself, you are opening yourself up to the possibility that anything is achievable (and it is!).
How much shampoo should I be using? This is a question I hear frequently, and an important tip I educate my guests on because people tend to overuse products. It’s good to go through your beauty products and learn how to make them last. So let me help you start saving some product, and change.
More is not always better. Overusing any product does not mean it will give you a better result and could possibly be damaging to your hair…not to mention, you’ll waste your product causing you to spend more money.
We all want hair that is shiny, healthy, and looks beautiful. I get asked all the time how you can get this look. Today I want to share with you the top ten foods for shiny hair.
Ground flax seed or oil
Walnuts
Sunflower seeds
Olive oil
Evening primrose oil
Ginger
Prunes
Seafood
Apples
Chickpeas
Now the question you may be asking me is what can I make to get these foods into may weekly diet. I have a few suggestions:
Your immune system plays a big role in helping you to maintain your health. During the fall and winter months, it is especially significant to keep your immune system strong so that both you and your family avoid missing important dates and holidays.
One recommendation I have to boost your immune system is to use a protective blend Essential Oil and Lemon Essential Oil on a regular basis, like this Sunshine In a Cup recipe:
Ingredients
• 2-3 drops Protective Blend
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 cup hot water
• 1-2 drops Lemon essential oil
Add all ingredients to mug, stir and sip slowly.
Try out this recipe to give your immune system that extra boost!
Exercise is an important part of remaining healthy and happy, physically as well as mentally. Since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to focus on how physical activity is a key component of overall health and wellness for everyone, but in particular for those living with cancer.
What do you see when you look in the mirror? More than likely, you have a different view of your image than someone else. Just remember, you are more beautiful than you think.
As it gets cooler, delicious and healthy fall soups are a good way to stay warm, while also promoting healthy hair and skin!
My friend, and our outstanding health and wellness expert, Marisa Dicenso-Pelser, shares her Creamy Pumpkin Bisque recipe with us. It is a hearty soup that even those who are dairy-free can enjoy!
Have you ever had a day or a week filled with chaos? Every step you make seems to be met by challenge after challenge? All you can think of is, “I just want to wake up and have a fresh start…be able to see clearly and move forward uninhibited toward the goals and blessings that are waiting for me just ahead?”
Don’t worry you are not alone! I found a prayer in the Psalms (Psalm 51:7-15) that King David wrote when he was in chaos and needed a fresh start to lift him up so he could see above the circumstances and chaos in his life. This prayer gave David hope for the future.
Today, take a moment to read and meditate on these verses. As you begin to allow these words to sink into your soul you will see that God is a faithful God who loves you. As you begin to trust in Him, and not lean on your own strength and understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), He will begin to reveal His faithfulness to you by calming the chaos in your life and working all things together for the good. This will in turn give you the fresh start that you need!
Allow these words to strengthen you and then share them with someone else who needs a fresh start.
Dr. Casen, from the Drugless Doctor sent us this post that I think is very important on the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast on your health, and your energy levels!
A recent study that used brain scans to investigate breakfast’s effect on eating later in the day was presented at the Neuroscience 2012 conference. Subjects who SKIPPED breakfast were more attracted to images of high-calorie grub and consumed 20% MORE calories at lunch than those who ate breakfast. (womenshealthmag.com/March2013)
Takeaways from Dr. Casen-
1) Breakfast is the most important meal of the day (We learned this in grade school everyone!)
2) Start your day off with protein, this will help you to sustain your energy throughout the day and not spike your insulin levels. Doughnuts, pop tarts, and Lucky Charms may look attractive but your body and brain will suffer from those choices.
3) Proper planning is key! Make sure your fridge is stocked with healthy organic foods to prepare for you and your family.
4) Become label savvy. On average, women and men who read nutrition labels weigh NINE pounds less than those who don’t.
Thank you Dr. Casen for these important tips! There are so many reason to start your off with at least a healthy snack, even if it’s just for that small energy boost! Check out my Pinterest board full of great, healthy snack ideas here!
