Camouflaging Thinning Hair

Spring is the perfect time to learn how camouflaging your thinning hair can work for you. I understand that it can be difficult to hide a bare scalp, especially during the spring months when the weather turns nice and we’re no longer wearing heavy clothing or hats. My camouflaging trick will keep you feeling confident and gorgeous, just like a spring flower!

Now, there are a few barriers when “covering up.”  Most of us are running around on a daily basis, our bodies’ sweat, and with the spring season comes rain. These factors can make it difficult to hide hair loss or thinning. Some camouflage makeups run-off in these insistences, but unlike those other products, the physician-developed makeup I suggest using, actually seals in place allowing you to go about your day without any worry and help you continue looking beautiful on the inside and out!

Save Some Product & Your Change!

Spilled Jar Of Coins

How much shampoo should I be using? This is a question I hear frequently, and an important tip I educate my guests on because people tend to overuse products. It’s good to go through your beauty products and learn how to make them last. So let me help you start saving some product, and change.

More is not always better. Overusing any product does not mean it will give you a better result and could possibly be damaging to your hair…not to mention, you’ll waste your product causing you to spend more money.

Recognizing Early Signs of Hair Loss

Hair loss

Looking down at your brush, you notice strands of hair. Immediately you panic and wonder – am I experiencing hair loss? The good news is that there are some signs and questions you can ask yourself that will help determine if you are losing more hair than you should. Being in the industry for years, I’m here to help!

There are a few questions that are essential to ask yourself:

  1. When you wake up in the morning, is there hair everywhere? On your pillow? On your bed?

Beauty Tip: Cocktailing

This is one of my beauty tips that every woman, whether she has a hair replacement system or her own beautiful hair, should know when styling her hair. It’s a beauty trick you’ve seen your stylist do a million times, and in this video I lay out how to use these products to help you create the look you want.

When you leave the salon, your hair is looking fabulous! So why does it seem difficult to achieve the same result at home? Perhaps it’s because your stylist uses the “cocktailing” method.  Take a pea-size amount of a few products, thoroughly mix and mold them in your hands, and disperse them evenly (roots, ends, and in between), this is called cocktailing. Like in mixology, you are using more than one type of product to achieve an amazing result.

Try this beauty trick and you’ll notice that your hair cooperates more and is easily styled. Good luck cocktailing!

Are You Using Too Much Product?

When you’ve investing money into your hair, it’s important to invest the time to take care of it. One of the biggest beauty myths is that that using more product is better. This is in fact, false! And here’s why.

When washing your hair it is important to use one product, let it work its magic, and then completely rinse it off so that the next product you use can work properly.

I have created a full maintenance guide video to help walk you through the correct amount of products to use as well as the importance of rinsing the products out of your hair.

Achieving Vintage Curls

Recently vintage curls have been popping up at celebrity events, shows and in everyday life. The key to achieving the perfect vintage curls, that will hold, is using the right tools and products. Here are my tips to creating beautiful, vintage curls.

  1. For that gorgeous curl, you’ll want a versatile tool that heats up quickly and evenly. One tool that not only straightens hair but also creates luscious curls and waves is the GHD flatiron.
  2. Technique is important when using a heated tool, like the GHD flat iron in the video above. Always use a thermalizer to shield hair from thermal damage.
  3. After you’ve completed your vintage curls, spray a silicone polish to give curls a brilliant gloss and eliminate frizz.

I hope these tips have encouraged you to try creating your very own vintage curls utilizing beauty tools and products that help keep your hairdo all day long and that you can use to attempt some beautiful (and simple!) looks. For additional beauty tips please click here or follow me on:

Ask Jeffrey: Can Cold Weather Cause Hair Tangling?

Woman in Hat copy

I have been noticing a great deal of tangling in my nape area as well as the underside of my hair. It seems to have increased in the last few weeks. Is it possible that the cold weather is causing my hair to tangle?” Janelle V.

Janelle, thank you for your question! This is an excellent question, and one that I believe many women will benefit from.

The weather in the Cleveland area has definitely turned more frigid…Brrrrr! With that change of weather also comes a change in the clothes that we wear. During the winter months we wear heavier clothes to stay warm, but it can be these added layers that are causing the tangling and friction you are experiencing.

Sweaters, scarves, hats and jackets that are made out of wool or rougher materials are great to keep us warm; however they are also one of the leading contributors to tangles in hair. As you wear these items your hair is constantly rubbing against these materials and articles of clothing, especially in the collar area (nape area) and the underside of your hair. This constant rubbing causes friction and friction leads to tangling. This is very similar to what you can experience at night if you are not sleeping on a satin pillow case (Click Here to read more about friction caused at night).

Combine the heavier clothes and the natural dryness in the air during winter months and you have the perfect combination for dry, tangly hair.

The best way to combat against the friction, tangles and dry hair, is to

Budgeting for YOUR Hair Loss Solution

There are many factors that will influence your hair loss solution selection. Certain options will meet your budget. Others will meet the degree of quality you require, and yet others may best meet your time constraints. A part of my New Years resolution is to help you figure out how you can find a solution for your individual hair loss.

My advice starts by using the total approach mentality to evaluate the best investment you can make. Consider timeline, quality and cost, as well as any other factors of importance to you. Of course, the quality of your initial investment will help drive the success of the solution for your situation. I strongly encourage you to seek out a hair restoration and replacement professional that can expertly guide you.

Remaining Thankful

11.27

Today is Thanksgiving – a day for us all to remember what we are thankful for…but what about the other 364 days of the year???

Life throws challenges at us and while it is easy to give thanks when everything in our lives is going well or the way that we want it to be, it is a discipline to give thanks even throughout life’s challenges.

Overcoming difficulties, depression, anxiety, disappointment, failures and so much more is a part of our lives and by being thankful on a regular basis, you will appreciate more and live a happier and more fulfilled life.

Remember that God loves us so much that even throughout the challenges we face He is by our side and helping us through it all. If we choose to discipline our thoughts and words, to be thankful for where we are at in our lives and what is to come, then we will diminish the negative feelings, thoughts and actions and focus on our positive life experiences.

As you gather this year, possibly with close loved ones, and give thanks just recollect on the good that has happened and that is still unseen and being worked out for your future. It’s time to unleash the “Gift of Thanksgiving!”

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” (Philippians 4:8, 9 MSG)

A Natural Immune Booster

Lemon Tea

Your immune system plays a big role in helping you to maintain your health. During the fall and winter months, it is especially significant to keep your immune system strong so that both you and your family avoid missing important dates and holidays.

One recommendation I have to boost your immune system is to use a protective blend Essential Oil and Lemon Essential Oil on a regular basis, like this Sunshine In a Cup recipe:

Ingredients

• 2-3 drops Protective Blend
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 cup hot water
• 1-2 drops Lemon essential oil

Add all ingredients to mug, stir and sip slowly.

Try out this recipe to give your immune system that extra boost!
