2 Tips On How To Protect Hair From The Pool & The Sun

If you are an avid swimmer or just headed to the beach for the summer, I hear the question all the time, is there a safe way to keep my hair protected from damage and from fading? Do I really need to wear a hat all the time… not swim or go in the sun?

Absolutely not! My motto has always been to look yourself and live your life. So here are two tips to help you enjoy the pool and the sun:

Silky and Smooth For Summer

Let’s face it; summertime makes it difficult to keep hair healthy, protected and keep moisture locked in. Thankfully, I have a product that will help you achieve all three – in one!

Silkening oil is a great summer go-to product, especially for those with curly, frizzy or dry hair. Aquage’s SeaExtend silkening oil treatment is great for a number of reasons:

-Adds brilliant shine
-Accelerates drying time
-Won’t alter haircolor tone
-Seals in hair color
Protects against heat damage
-Is water soluble

In case you haven’t used silkening oil before, check out my video above to see how to use it prior to blow-drying. Plus, silkening oil can give you some great benefits when cocktailing it together with one of your other styling products. Your hair will be extra smooth and silky all summer long thanks to this one-of-a-kind hair protectant!

Linsey’s Full Makeover

“I didn’t recognize myself at first…I was so excited I jumped for joy! I can’t wait to go out and be myself.” – Linsey

Linsey was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder leading to hyperthyroidism, back in 1996. As we spent time with Linsey we found that her hair loss was caused by a combination of Graves’ Disease, Hashimoto’s Disease and the medications associated with them. For these types of diseases that cause damage emotionally, and physically it’s so important to build awareness so that women who may be suffering can seek and find help.

Screen Shot 2014-03-27 at 2.24.53 PMConsultation:

We prepared Linsey for her hair system by having a personalized discussion with her about her hair loss and determining which solution would be best for her specifically.

How to Live Pain Free: Part 4

Your health is something that you need to think about with a total body approach. One of the areas we tend to forget about when working on our posture is our hip flexures. Because most of us sit all day in an office chair, that creates a tightening in our hips, as well as our back and chest. So in today’s series of stretches with Mark Roozen, we show you a stretch that works on your hip flexures and back.

Using a stick for support, begin swinging your leg back and forth. Make sure you’re standing tall and straight up. By kicking your leg back and forth, you are opening up your hips and allowing your back to straighten up.

Want to read more about how to live pain free? By subscribing to my blog not only will you get great health and wellness tips but a FREE copy of Mark’s e-book, “How to Live Pain Free.” Sign up here to receive your free copy!

Why You Might be Using the Wrong Blow Dryer

People have always asked, “Jeffrey, what should I look for when choosing a blow dryer.” This is a question that more of us should think about when we’re making a purchase, because not all dryers are equal! I want to share with you my favorite blow dryer, and what features it has.

The new CHI touch is my favorite blow dryer and one I would recommend to anyone because it has the following features:

  • Temperature setting
  • Volume of air setting
  • Changeable nosel
  • Ionization setting

These are all important settings because the more heat you use, the less beauty your hair has. Many blow dryers do not have a temperature setting, which in return, causes many of use to over heat our hair.

Protect Your Hair

Jeffrey Paul Restoring Beautiful Hair Conditioner

Hair needs protection! That’s why using my Beautiful Hair Spray Conditioner is so important. Towels, blow dryers, hot irons, and other environmental factors damage hair each and every day. Using my Spray Conditioner after showering not only helps to protect your hair from many damaging factors. It also detangles hair, adds moisture which allows hair to feel more soft and smooth, and reduces frizzy hair.

Here are a few tips to further protect your hair.

  1. If you must towel dry your hair, make sure to use a microfiber towel.
  2. If you need to blow dry your hair or use hot styling tools, make sure that you are using them properly. (For tips, click here).
  3. Understand the 3 T’s of your styling tools: time, temperature and technique.

If you are interested in my Beautiful Hair Spray Conditioner, or any of my other products you are in luck! You have a chance to win a full Beautiful Hair Maintenance Package ($200 value). All you need to do is comment on my blog here, and ask any questions you may have.

For The Hair of Your Life, Know the Life of Your Hair!

Paul-Figure02-06-1No matter the number of hairs you may have on your head or your hair’s texture, healthy, normal hair has a regular grow-shed cycle of about 80 to 100 hairs a day, so a certain amount of “fall out” is a natural occurrence.

When everything is going as it should, there are three stages of the grow-shed cycle. The first is the anagen stage, which lasts from two to six years. During this stage, hair is firmly seated in the hair follicle, getting plenty of nourishment, and growing at a rate of one quarter to one half an inch per month. This happens with more frequency in our youth, and lessens as we age.

“More than 85% of scalp hair is in this phase at any time,” says dermatologist Dr. Wilma Bergfeld, head of dermatology research at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. So, most of our hair is constantly in the process of feeding and growing.

Crash Diets = Accidents for Hair

Jeffrey Paul - Crash DietsDr. Robert M. Bernstein, director of the New Hair Institute in New York City and in Fort Lee, New Jersey, cites crash diets and anemia as two potential underlying factors on a long list of those that may contribute to hair loss and that should be ruled out by medical evaluation before embarking on finding the right solution. Limiting nutrients by crash dieting or dieting too severely can rob hair follicles of what they need to survive. If you are experiencing thinning or loss and have been crash dieting, change to a nutritionally sound program as quickly as you can and follow up with a nutritionist or doctor. And if you are anemic, make sure you are getting enough iron, which has a strong impact on your hair’s good health. You should certainly see your doctor or nutritionist for their recommended dosage of iron for your circumstances.

To find more information on causes of hair loss and the solutions please check out my book, Women’s Hair Solutions to Thinning and Loss. My book will empower you with the knowledge you need to take the best possible action to correct your problem and reclaim your confidence. Also, for some healthy hair, and body, recipes refer to chapter 15.
