Cover Me… I’m Going Thin!

It’s the opening credits for Pretty Woman, and we see Viv putting on her leather boots as she gets ready. But they are not perfect, so she takes out a black magic marker and colors in the worn spots so they won’t be noticeable. It works – we don’t notice them, and people could relate.

Camouflage makeup is one of the simplest ways to deal with early hair thinning and loss, particularly for those who are experiencing between 10-20% thinning. To do this we can use light powder and liquid covers dark or red spots on skin, and dark and light powders and liquids can conceal thinning areas on scalps. If the right products are used, we can look nearly perfect and no one will notice hair thinning and loss issues. because many of them had been using that technique on their shoes for years before the movie came out.

Here are some of our tips for applying camouflage makeup:

“I felt like I was going bald…”

Barb

That’s how Barb felt when she started experiencing the beginning stages of her age-related hair loss. After a personal consultation, at Jeffrey Paul Salon, we determined Micro Point Links were the right solution for Barb.

The Micro Point Link process links a single strand of natural growing hair with four new strands of hair, instantly increasing the hair’s density by 400 percent. The process can be repeated hundreds of times giving those who qualify thousands of new strands of hair with no damage or stress to their natural hair. The process doesn’t require chemicals, transplants, or any other type of hair system.

Five Early Signs of Hair Loss – The Stranger in the Mirror

Five early signs of Hair Loss - Jeffrey Paul Restoring Beautiful HairNot sure if you’re experiencing hair loss, or merely losing a few strands here and there? This can be a very scary and confusing time, but rest assured, I’m here to help! After many years in the industry I’ve put together the following 5, telltale signs that help you determine if your hair loss is something to fret about, or not.

I recommend asking yourself these questions:

5 Causes of Premature and Excessive Hair Loss in a Hair System

5 Causes of Premature Hair Loss

There’s no exact timeline as to how long a hair system will last. It varies on the way you wear and take care of your hair. A hair system will need to be replaced as the hair begins to come lose or thin in the hair system. While a few shedding hairs left on the base of a hair system is expected from the original hand tying process, there are five actions that can cause excessive hair loss, after the delivery of your system, and greatly decrease the life of your hair system.

Hair Extensions – Kristen’s Hair Loss Solution

“This is amazing! This is a new me. I think my hair is better than it was years ago.” – Kristen

Kristen used to not worry about hair loss. She had hair that was thick and full, and it always looked good. A few years ago, her hair began to fall out. Kristen noticed piles of hair each morning while getting ready. There were a few reasons she could think of that could be contributing factors to her hair’s condition.

Going from early stage to intermediate stage of female hair thinning, loss and breakage, she decided to seek help from the Jeffrey Paul Salon team.

Stylist or TEAM-Based Salon?

JP 6.16 Pic

Have you ever thought about the idea of a “team” when looking for a salon or stylist? Whether it is for beauty services or hair loss services, most women today find one stylist and become so comfortable with that stylist that you may not even realize what you may be missing out on from a salon with a team-based culture.

A salon with a team-based culture is made up of individuals who work together with one goal in mind- YOU! Communication is key to a team-based culture. That team makes notes after each appointment about changes to your color formulas or cut, your specific likes or dislikes. This is important so that at any given time any member of the styling team could do your services and you still have the confidence that they will deliver with the same excellence as your preferred stylist.

Here are four benefits that a salon with a team-based culture could add to your experience:

What Are Your Roots Telling You?

rootJP

When you go to a salon, you expect to leave happy with the results you want. Typically when a woman seeks a solution for her hair loss, she wants to find a way to enhance what she sees and how she views herself. However, I want to be sure to focus on the root of the problem and what people don’t necessarily see.

Plants, trees, perhaps vegetables in your garden – all of these things have something in common: roots. Roots are their source for receiving nutrients, which in return help that living thing grow and remain thriving.

Similar to things that grow, hair has a root (otherwise known as a follicle), and if it’s not receiving the correct nutrients, it will cause hair to grow in thinner or quite possibly fall out. It’s essential to provide our bodies with fresh, natural foods and to maintain a healthy diet so that hair can continue to be strong, healthy and grow.

When deciding what nutrients are important to obtain on a regular basis, you should be sure of a few things:

1. Be sure to include foods or supplements contain essential fatty acids as well as antioxidants. By eating natural elements, you are encouraging your body to absorb crucial vitamins and minerals.

2. Are you getting the right combination of vitamins? For instance, Vitamins A, B and C as well as Omegas 3 and 6 help hair grow and stay in good health.

4 Great Benefits to Having Two Hairpieces

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R24biYgdcnI&t

Hair is a fabric. Just like with your favorite outfit or that great pair of leather boots you wear… each fabric has a life expectancy based on the amount of use or overuse you put into it. The same is true for your hair replacement system. There’s no exact timeline as to when someone needs a new system or how long a hair system lasts. It varies on the way you wear and take care of your hair.

For the guest, at Jeffrey Paul Salon, who has selected the extended wear attachment option, the wear and tear that goes into wearing a system everyday is quite extensive. Think about it, even your most favorite outfit that you may wear 2 times a week (I won’t tell) gets taken on and off. The extended wear attachment method give the wearer the opportunity to live a more uncompromised life style because the hair system is attached. At the same time it can also cause a hair system to wear even faster.

Whether you have extensions, an integration system or a full hair replacement system, I highly suggest investing in two hairpieces. Why, you may ask? Here are a few of the great benefits having two hair systems, that you are able to alternate each month, can give you:

Ask Jeffrey: Human Hair Vs. Synthetic Hair

Synthetic vs. Natural Hair

“Jeffrey, I have made the decision to proceed forward with a hair solution. Before I do so my biggest question is which hair is better for me Human Hair or Synthetic Hair?” ~ Jackie L.

This is not only an excellent question, but the answer is also very important in order to make the best selection for your hair loss solution. Let me take you through some of the details of the two types of hair as well as the Pro’s and Con’s of both.

Story of Maxie – A Mother Finding A Solution

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc8Ugn1zkyo&t

When you become a mother, many things in your life change. Your protective instincts kick in, you become an expert in time management, your sleep pattern changes, and so much more. It’s inevitable.

What about hair loss? Once you have children, hair just doesn’t grow back the same. Jeffrey Paul Salon’s Office Coordinator, Maxie, experienced this first hand after giving birth to her three children. Prior to having kids, she never imagined that hair loss would be a problem for her.

She began to notice the changes in her hair’s texture, color and weight. She would find clumps of hair after taking a shower. These changes weren’t caused from age but as a result from having children. Like others, she initially attributed this hair loss to aging and shrugged it off as one of life’s natural occurrences.

Thankfully, Maxie was able to gain insight into her hair loss because of her career. Working at Jeffrey Paul Salon, allowed Maxie to discover the real reason behind her hair loss and the best possible hair replacement solution.

Through a consultation, contour analysis, and determining which attachment method best suited Maxie, she was able to choose a hair replacement system in which she could go about her everyday life without being self-conscious about her hair loss, how it would affect her and what others would think.

Now, thanks to finding the right hair loss solution, Maxie is able to focus on the most important job…being a mother.

Causes & SOLUTIONS to Tangling In A Hair System?

Cute brown haired girl brushing her hair - from applying to fund

Tangles in a hair system can be a mess, and one that can lead to breakage, damage and hair loss.  Here is a list of 5 of the most common causes – and solutions – of tangles in hair systems (and growing hair too!).

  1. Excessively Hot or Cold Water: Always use lukewarm water when washing your hair replacement system.
  2. Friction: Generally around the neck line on wigs or in permanent hair replacements. This is caused from rubbing on the pillow at night or on collars of shirts, blouses, jackets or scarves. Constant friction damages the hair and opens the cuticle which leads to excessive tangling.
      • Solution: If tangling from excessive friction occurs, comb it out immediately and gently with a wide tooth comb or wet brush, using a small amount of our Step 5 Spray Conditioner. Try using a silk or satin pillowcase to avoid the friction of cotton pillowcases.

How To Properly Clean Your Hair Replacement System

It’s important to remember that a Hair System is an investment. By taking proper care of it, you will keep it looking natural and make it last longer. In order to do so, I highly recommend following a well-prescribed maintenance routine and one crucial part of that includes proper cleansing of your system.

Before I discuss the appropriate steps in that process, I want to bust a myth right now: washing a wig or hair replacement system less does not make it last longer.  In fact, cleaning and conditioning with the correct products and procedure will increase the life span since it lifts the oils and grime that cause hair loss and make for an unnatural look.

If you wear your hair system attached in extended wear fashion (removed by professional every 4-6 weeks) it is best to follow these video steps here.

If your hair system is worn daily (taken on and off each day), I suggest following twelve simple steps:

Linsey’s Story – Attachment Methods

For those of you following our Hair Loss Makeover Winner, Linsey, and her journey, you know she has gone through a private consultation to determine the best solution for her hair loss.

In order to further determine the best custom designed solution for Linsey, or anyone who comes in to Jeffrey Paul Salon, we must determine Linsey’s lifestyle, in order to determine which attachment method would be best suited for her needs.

In the video above I will take you through and explanation, as well as some facts, about the two types of attachment methods. These two attachment methods are:
