Hairspray 101 – “Good Vs. Bad”

Not all hairsprays are created equal, in fact not all hair sprays are created for the same purpose! Using the correct spray is so important to a successful finished look, especially for a look that you need to last through the entire day.

In the video above I explain the difference in types of hair spray products and what they are used for. I also suggest three products that will make your life easier and your hair more radiant! If you’re looking to create a structured look, we suggest a holding spray by Jeffrey Paul. For a gorgeous shine we suggest Beyond Shine by Aquage, and finally for a fabulous finish I love Aquage’s finishing spray.

Wake Up Hair, The Right Way!

If you are a coffee drinker in the morning, you know what it’s like, or you’re like, when you don’t get that cup of coffee to help you wake up. Just like you, your hair needs a wake-up call to help get the “bed head” and the tangles out. One of the most important things you can do before stepping into the shower is to precondition hair. By doing this preconditioning step you will help start the day for your hair with a great foundation. In this video I walk you through the process step by step, but it’s really quite simple. Make sure to:

  1. Section Hair
  2. Mix Conditioner and water into a water bottle and sprits onto hair
  3. Brush through your hair

And that’s it! You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference this short process will make! For more beauty tips daily connect with me on:

Hairspray 101 – “Proper Use of Hairspray”

What’s the key to using hairspray like a professional? You probably didn’t even know there was a ‘correct’ way! Well, other than using high quality products, it’s the most important factor in hairspray application is the distance at which you are spraying your hair! Why? Because the manufacture creates the bottle to spray moisture for 12 inches and if you are closer than 12 inches it means you are getting too much accelerant (the ingredient that pushes the spray out of bottle) and residual product on the hair. This in turn can cause dryness and those dreaded white flakes.

In order to get the most desired affects from your hair spray product, you need to hold your arm out straight, at approximately 12 inches from your head and then spray! Work the product into your hair with your hands or a brush and then spray again!

In this video I walk you through the detailed steps on what you may be doing wrong and show the correct way to use hairspray like a pro!

Ask Jeffrey – The secret to silky-smooth hair is silk

“Jeffrey, how in the world do movie stars have such beautiful, smooth hair?” – Monica H.

Monica, thank you for your question! One of the most important answers to that question is that they treat their hair right. What do I mean by that? Well, if you’ve watched any of my other beauty tip videos or read the blogs, then you know that friction is the number one enemy of beautiful hair. Friction causes breakage, frizz and knotting – three things you’ll never see in a hair commercial.

I’ve already addressed collar friction, but the majority of friction actually happens while you are sleeping! In the video above I explain that the friction caused by laying your head on a pillow is something that can be avoided by simply using a silk satin pillowcase – yes the secret to silky hair is a silky pillow!

Here are some quick steps to take to ensure that your hair is protected and beautiful when you wake up in the morning:

1. Spritz spray conditioner gently all around your head

2.  Use a wet brush to gently comb through your hair, making sure that the conditioner is equally distributed throughout the hair.

3. Sleep on a silk satin pillowcase

And that’s it! Of course I have so many more wonderful beauty tips to share, so stay tuned to the blog and connect with us on:

The 3 T’s of Terrific Tools

 original

Over the years I have found that if there is one mistake most women make when it comes to styling their hair it is the tools that they use. (Mother bought them a curling iron when they were eight years old and then have been using it ever since etc.) Using damaged tools can ultimately lead to more damage to your hair. There are 3 important factors to keep in mind when using styling tools The Three T’s of Tools: Time, Temperature, and Technique.

Beauty Begins Within!

Inner beauty is a concept used to describe the positive aspects of something that is not physically observable. When you look in the mirror you only see one part of you. When you look into your inner spirit what do you see? Do you see yourself as beautiful, precious and loved? If not, then it’s time to change.

The Crowning Glory: What Makes Hair Royally Beautiful

Before you approach restoring your beautiful hair, you need to know the basic elements that actually make it beautiful. For that, you need to look no further than to a typical twelve year-old girl. Her head of healthy hair has five specific elements that combine to give it that unmistakable beauty:

• Shine or Condition
• Texture or Wave
• Shade or Color
• Style or Framing
• Growth

Beautiful Hair

At their best, these five components represent the qualities necessary for hair to be beautiful. Duplicating or simulating them successfully is the goal of Hair Restoration.
