Above all else, guard you heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
Your heart is where your beliefs and doubts, your joys and fears are produced which gives you a wellspring of life or misery. It all depends on what you are producing. In the book of Deuteronomy God speaks to us saying; “today I place before life and death, Choose Life.”
What God has given to all of us is the power to believe – that is what our hearts manufacture, beliefs that produce thoughts that are then made real in our lives. That is a great power but what type of beliefs and thoughts is your heart producing?
“As a man or woman thinks in their heart, so they become…” Proverbs 23:7 KJV
It all depends on what voice your heart is listening to! Is your heart listening to all the negative things you have done or failed to do? Is it listening to the things people say about you or your future? Or is the voice your heart is listening the Voice of God, who has no condemnation for you, only encouragement of who He has made you to be and what He in you has given you the power to do. You see, to guard your heart is to silence the voices that try to kill your joy, desires and the hope for your future that God has planned for you.
The only way to silence the voice that comes to steal, kill and destroy your life is to guard your heart as the teacher in Proverbs stresses. Jesus also teaches us how in John 15:7-8, when He said; “Remain in My Presence and allow My Words to remain in you.”
I will be talking more about this in the coming writings, but for now learn to distinguish these two voices and begin to believe the good that God says about you and your future no matter how much you have failed up to this point. It is never too late if you stop listening to the false lies and fact about you and begin to listen to God’s truth about you and your future that He will bring into your life as your heart believes and your thoughts begin to process the hope and your words speak with faith what you may not see but you are believing God for. This is the Truth that will set you free from your past and give you Abundant Life. So Believe!

Proverbs 4:20-27 (New International Version 1984)
20 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. 21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; 22 for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. 24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. 27 Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
