“I finally feel good about myself and how I look. That makes me happy. I want to share that.” -Cindy
As a former hospital employee, Cindy was always in the public eye, and like most of us, her hair had always been a big part of her appearance. As Cindy began to lose her hair, she was able to determine that her hair loss was not only hereditary, but was also being caused by a medication she was required to take after surgery. Cindy told me that her hair loss started slowly, but as any of us who have experienced loss know, a little is enough to throw us into that private panic, and search for a solution. Cindy came to me at my salon, and we were able to walk her through her thinning and loss, and find a solution that met her needs and made her feel good!
Consultation:
When Cindy first came into my salon for a personal consultation we reviewed her background and determined her hair type, face shape, skin tone, level of activity, preferences and health treatment status. These are all important factors to determine which is the best solution for her. Then we moved on to the evaluation and assessment of what solutions may be best for her.
Evaluation & Assessment:
In the evaluation process we determined that Cindy was experiencing a diffusion grade of stage two and pattern stage of three. With this information we were able to go about creating a custom designed hair replacement system for Cindy.
Design & Mold:
To create Cindy’s new hairpiece, we took a heated polymer and stretched it onto her head. Once it was in place, we took a cold glove to harden the polymer so it contoured to her head for a seamless fit.
Recommended Solution:
We recommended an Integration System for Cindy. Integration systems are a little known solution that allows us to only add hair where it is needed! Cindy was able to keep and maintain her own beautiful hair and use the system to have a full head of hair. To attach the new piece, we chose an Extended Wear method, which uses a combination of adhesive and bonding materials to adhere the piece to Cindy’s scalp. This allows Cindy to continue to live an active life. The hair that was still growing was then pulled through the system and integrated into the new piece.
Once the piece was in place we cut, colored and styled her hair based on her perfectly symmetrical oval shaped face and skin tone. Since any style flatters this shape, we kept her hair short and layered for a classic look.
The last step before sending Cindy out to enjoy her new look was to educate her so she can properly maintain her piece and keep it looking fabulous!
